Cataract Surgery and Treatment
Cataract Surgery
A cataract is a cloudiness or opacity in the lens of the eye. The lens is normally transparent and is located behind the pupil (the dark center of the eye) and the iris (the colored portion of the eye around the pupil). The cloudiness in the lens restricts light from passing through the eye. This affects reading, night driving and distance vision.
Causes of Cataract
Cataracts can occur at any age but are very common in older people. Other causes of cataracts, besides age, include: congenital (present at birth), health problems, such as diabetes, medications, such as steroids and injury to the eye.
Treatment of Cataract
The cataract specialists at El-Amin ophthalmic center are leaders in advanced microsurgical and lens implant procedures involved in cataract treatment while cataract surgery is generally a highly successful procedure.
If the symptoms are mild, a change in glasses may be all you need.
However, if the cataract is interfering with your daily activities, surgery should be considered, as surgery is the only way to remove a cataract.
In most cases, the cataract is removed using a process called “phacoemulsification” where a small incision is made in the eye to remove the clouded lens and replace it with an intraocular lens (IOL).
An intraocular lens is a clear, manufactured lens that replaces the affected lens and helps improve the patient’s vision.
Corneal Transplant and Treatment
Corneal Clinic and Transplant
The cornea is the transparent outer layer that covers the front of the eye, which together with the sclera (the thick, white part of your eye) and the conjunctiva (thin tissue that covers the sclera) protects your eye from damage. The eyelids function to protect these surface structures of your eye and to keep them moist each time you blink.

Glaucoma Surgery and Treatment
Glaucoma Clinic and Surgery
Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness worldwide. It often has no symptoms in the early stages. Glaucoma can happen to anyone. It occurs when the pressure within the eye (IOP) is high for prolonged periods. This results in painless and progressive damage to the optic nerve, resulting in vision loss.
Treatment of Glaucoma
Vision loss from glaucoma is not reversible with treatment. The symptoms of glaucoma can also be mild or even non-existent until the disease has silently and gradually worsened to a severe stage. This is why regular eye exams are important. The glaucoma specialists at El-amin ophthalmic centerprovide extensive glaucoma eye care that comprises glaucoma evaluation and testing, and management of intraocular pressure and treatment.
